The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised concerns of alleged bias and partiality by election officers, urging the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure fairness in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. In a letter to the ECI, the BJP pointed out instances where election officers allegedly exhibited partiality by ignoring flagged social media posts or speeches from the BJP while delaying or neglecting complaints filed by the party.

The saffron party also criticized the EC for delays in granting permissions and approvals to BJP's legal requests, citing undue haste in taking action against BJP members even in the absence of formal complaints. The BJP alleged biased conduct by election officers in states such as West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Punjab, attributing this bias to political pressure.

Highlighting past experiences during state assembly and other elections, the BJP expressed dissatisfaction with the effectiveness of ECI's directives, advisories, and legal provisions in maintaining a fair competition environment. The party emphasized the need for prompt, effective, and exemplary action by the ECI to ensure fairness and respect for its directives.

The BJP made four requests to the ECI, including urging election personnel to detect violations proactively, reconsidering the approach towards handling misconduct for swift and effective action, directing officers to maintain impartiality throughout the election process, and taking prompt and effective action against biased officers.
